Onion Reality

I have this weird problem on YouTube. (Don’t we all, I hear you ask.)

For whatever reason, the Almighty Algorithm decided to pop up some videos from The Onion (which I thought didn’t do anything these days). I watched a couple, because I find them funny, so now I see more of them, including the old stuff from a decade ago when they used to have a budget.

My problem now is that I have to double check every ‘news’ video that comes up in case they’re fake ones created by the Onion ten years ago. It’s really hard to tell the difference between stuff they did as parody/satire back then and what’s really happening in the real news today!

We live in Onion Reality. I don’t believe in God, but… God help us.

(This has been your random dose of boredom-induced weird thoughts. And now, back to the editing.)

You should live near a walking, talking, breathing person who if he was in a book people would assume he is satire personified.

Theis “gentleman” lived in fear of government surveillance. Not unusual out west here. However he was convinced any bad weather was caused by experiments at Nellis AFB, hung fly paper on his outdoor porch to trap the flys in his house. Why did he have flys? He had so many cats he couldn’t afford the litter so he scooped most of the poop out and set the boxes out in the desert sun to get rid of the cat pee. If it rained the stench would gag me.

In addition he had a collection of 50 cat food cans of dead cockroaches on the porch. Oh they weren’t actually cockroaches but insects who dressed up to look like roaches.

We told the complex office about him and the manager had to see it for herself. She did, and turned white as a sheet. No mean feat for a lady of hispanic descent. Corporate from Cali came over because they didn’t believe her.

Yes life is totally more weird than authors dare to write.

    • Yeah, I’ve always said the stuff I write isn’t even close to how weird reality can get.

Given the worlds Fox and Tatsu live in, that’s really worrying.

I worry about the people running around who are unable to tell satire from reality.
