TMWWNT Cover Reveal

So, this is the cover. The book will be out tomorrow (Monday, Feb 5th). That may turn out to be Tuesday if you’re on the other side of the world from me. I’ll try to get it out as early as possible, but there’s no accounting for Amazon’s submission system.

I made this one brighter. Quite a lot brighter. Hope it works.

    Looks great.

  2. That title reminds me of a certain poem I read in middle school.

    • Yesterday, upon the stair,
      I met a man who wasn’t there.
      He wasn’t there again today.
      I wish, I wish, he’d go away.

      Antignoish by Hughes Mearns.

Edit: Got the quote wrong. Corrected.

      • Indeed. And now I just have to wait for Amazon to list the title.

Guess I’ll have to devour Solo Leveling again, instead.

      • Manga or anime? Or not-manga. Donwa? I don’t get all the names. I hear the non-animated version is better. Have to say that the anime is leaving me a bit cold. Don’t get the hype. It’s just another OP hero, shonen battle-style anime. I’m not giving up on it yet, but there’s a lot of other anime I like more on at the moment.

  3. In this case, it’s the light novels. Haven’t checked the manhwa (Korean version of webtoon) yet. The anime does follow the basic shonen OP premise, certainly. It’s also reasonably true to the source material (Moreso than most adaptations, anyway. Some have been… well.). That said, it does grow on you if you let it.

Have you been watching 7th Time Loop? That one’s been reasonably true to its source material as well.

    • I am. Watched the latest episode a couple of hours ago. It lost points for the kidnapping (unless it’s a bait-and-switch, in which case it’ll get them back. I’m liking the little brother. I do hope he gets killed mercilessly soon.
I’m getting picky. There’s a lot of good anime coming out these days (certainly a lot of anime, some of which is good). I give most a try, but they get dropped quickly if they don’t keep me interested.
Next season is going to be hell. Mushoku Tensei, Konosuba, Slime Isekai… Those are the three I know are going to be starting new seasons, and it doesn’t include anything new! Thankfully, Frieren and Apothecary Diaries will be finished by then or there wouldn’t be enough hours in the day.
And I have a lot of books/manga I need to read (not all of them Japanese). Help!

      • I’ve read the currently released (4 volumes) of 7th Time Loop, so I won’t spoil anything. I’ve also read some of Frieren and Apothecary Diaries. Currently I have Villainess Level 99 (because it’s just silly enough with her deadpan reactions), Doctor Elise, The Witch and the Beast (good stories, but a bit brutal), and Metallic Rouge (because I have no idea just where it’s going). I’d offer to read your books/manga for you, but that doesn’t really help you . I agree about being picky… there’s a lot out there now, compared to the early days. No need to watch “just because there isn’t anything else”.

      • I have one volume of the Frieren manga still to read. That’s one of the ones I have yet to catch up on.
Level 99 Villainess is, as you say, silly, but the deadpan heroine is just right up my alley. There’s one on HiDive about a guy who can kill anyone he likes just by thinking it. It would be absolutely terrible under almost all circumstances I can think of, but the deadpan hero and his bewildered companion are keeping it going for me. (And it’s the only thing I have left to watch on a Thursday.)

  4. Thank you very much. This image is very nice. I look forward to getting the book.

  5. I have never been a huge fan of manga or anime, but this looks interesting and since it is one of your stories? I’ll buy it.

    • Writing this was inspired by an anime, but it’s got nothing to do with anime really. Funnily enough, the anime that produced the idea is one of the ones I dropped last season because it just stopped being interesting.
If anything, you could say this is inspired by Harry Potter. It’s Hogwarts, if magic was sufficiently dangerous that half the students had to quit each year due to accidents, loss of power, or death.

  6. Just finished it and OMG…..

Yep, you are right. A lot like Harry Potter if of course, Harry Potter was raised by Nava Greyling!

Um, NO! DO NOT call her by that nickname! BAD THINGS will happen.

    • Meh. Bad things are gonna happen anyway…

      • Somehow, that does not surprise me.

There are some people that it is a BAD idea to anger, so of course that is what idiots have to do to prove their idiocy both in stories and in real life.

I won’t call her that. EVER.

I thought of the school as Hogwarts if the Klingons ran it.

Magical self cleaning walls. It also hides the blood and guts of students that are careless.

Okay, I have to ask this. Will there be a 2nd book? I absolutely loved this book. I know you are very busy, but just wanted to ask.
