First Snow of the Year!

It’s snowing here in the outer reaches of the galaxy (aka Manchester, England). Serious snow which is actually settling on some surfaces. I don’t expect to be able to walk on the stuff today; it’s not that cold. And it’s not even December.

Now, I’m not saying this is an indication of climate change. I’m sure things will see an upturn in coming months, and I won’t be forced to wear three layers of clothes inside. We aren’t doomed…

Nope.

Help!

(Wow, the longer I type, the heavier it falls…)

  1. I live in the desert because the area of upstate NY I grew up in had Florida like humidity in the summer and soul killing snow and cold. I will take desert heat over blizzards and NorEasters that really do suck as bad as the movies.

It was amusing the winter 3inches of snow fell on Vegas. People were terrified to drive on what were wet roads while light snow fell. It took me 2and a half hours to travel about 15 miles from work to home. Settlers to California traveled faster than traffic on the Interstate.

These days I watch people ski and snowboard on Mt. Charleston outside of Vegas. Enough snow for me.

    • Never been to Vegas, but I’ve spent some time in Phoenix, AZ, at various times of the year. It never snowed, but I did almost give myself heatstroke one day.
TBH, if it snows here, no one knows what to do, but that is rather thicker snow than that. It’s just that they act like lunatics on an inch of the stuff and traffic grinds to a halt. It’s kind of embarrassing, but at least I don’t have to commute these days.

  2. Curious as to which company you were working with in Phoenix (assuming it was work trips). I nearly commented earlier that I had moved to Phoenix after 28 years in Boulder, Colorado and haven’t missed the cold and snow at all. It’s good to be in the desert! 😉

    • I would love to tell you, but it’s so long ago that I can’t remember the name and trying to find it would be next to impossible.
I quite liked Pheonix. I don’t think I’d want to live there, honestly, but I quite liked visiting. You do not get hummingbirds feeding outside your window in Manchester.
