A Milestone is Reached (Also News)

Today I happened to notice that I had one hundred subscribers on ArtStation. It’s not exactly a huge milestone. It’s a tiny milestone. More of a rock at the side of the road, hidden by grass really. On the other hand, for a non-artist who never makes it onto the Trending page, I’ll take the win.

And to celebrate, I posted some character references from the book I’m currently working on. You get a sneak peek. Not that I’m telling you much more about it.

News: BAD_CODE did not go so well, so that’s off the list. Something called BAD_CODE is going to turn up sometime, because I think it’s a great title. I am now working on something else, which is going well and will be my next book.

I had a medical problem sneak up on me over the past few months. Pretty much the last year, really, but it’s only really started being a problem since last winter. I just did not realise how bad it was getting until they put me on a massive dose of drugs for it and suggested the next stage would’ve been a trip to accident and emergency. I also didn’t realise how much it was affecting my work until I realised how much better things were going after the drugs kicked in. The past three or four weeks have been amazing! I just hope they have a solution which will keep me in this state once the current treatment ends.

Moral of this story: if you even think your health may be deteriorating, ask someone.

Anyway, things are progressing. I don’t have a date for the next book yet, but it’s coming along. Before the end of the year. Hopefully, significantly before the end of the year. (I might even manage another one before Christmas if my current pace keeps up, but I am not promising anything.) I’ll reveal more about the new book at a later date, but for those of you who care about this stuff, it is planned to be a series.

Stay healthy. Enjoy the pics.

  1. Nice pics. Is it just me, or does he staff glow brighter the less she’s wearing? Hope so 🙂

  2. Good to hear things are going better health wise and Yeah for the increased productivity!

I’m exited for the next series. Love your SF books, but I’ve always been partial to your Fantasy works. Though that might jus be because these seem to be slightly longer than your book. (not sure how that came about) Oh and love the outfits….. btw is she floating with those last two pics? A sublet hint?

    • Yes, she’s floating. I suppose it’s a hint of something, but this is a fantasy…
Originally, my fantasy books were shorter than my SF ones, and they have sort of flipped. Really, I write until I run out of things to say in that book. The length depends on the idea.

  3. Glad to hear you’re taking care of your health issues. I failed to follow my doctor’s instructions in a big way some years ago and could have died from. Thankfully didn’t but I did end up having to have heart surgery for my troubles. Take care of yourselves folks.

  4. Glad to hear your health is improving, hope it continues. I was wondering what was affecting your output. I didn’t notice the floating thing with the character until it was mentioned here. Guess I was concentrating on other aspects like her costume.

    • I was depressed and hadn’t noticed. Also, I had this thing where no matter how warm I was, I’d be shivering. It’s not easy to type when you’re shivering. Seriously, I should’ve noticed how bad I was getting. I think it’s like that (disproven) thing about boiling frogs. If you throw them into boiling water, they jump out, but if you heat them up slowly, they don’t notice. It sucked.

Also, yes, it’s a good costume. Gives 20 Damage Resistance too. 🙂

      • Was the shivering a depression thing? That’s one I’ve never heard of before.

In any case, I’m very glad you’ve discovered the problem and are addressing it. Your health matters.

      • Nope. More like the other way around. My heat regulation was way out of whack. You know the way you shiver when you have a fever because whatever is causing the fever messes up your thermostat because it WANTS you warmer so it can replicate faster? I had that, but without the actual fever, or any identified cause. It sucks. And I’m laughing as I write this, but it really wasn’t fun.

  5. I suffered such a depression years ago. My job productivity dropped quite noticeably to everyone but myself. I did notice I was making a lot of errors but had no idea what was wrong. I was called on it and ended up turning things around but it took time work to do so. Luckily I had no health issues. Keep yourself healthy, please!

  6. The lovely English weather did not help your shivering.
