The Series List

Someone asked for a list of what series will be progressing from here and what won’t. So, here we go. Keep in mind that this is my thoughts on things now and my thoughts may change. Also, the ordering is based on chronology, more or less, which may make little sense.

  • Thaumatology: I keep making plans for another book, but after all this time I don’t think it’s going to happen. Unless I get a brilliant idea, this series is closed.
  • Aneka Jansen: Similarly, I don’t think there will be another Aneka book unless I have a revelation.
  • Ultrahumans: I’ve gone almost as far as I can with Cygnus & company. There’s to be one more book which wraps up various threads, then the series will end. The book I’m currently working on will fill the superhero genre slot.
  • Unobtainium: I have plans for a third book. However, these things are hellish to write, so don’t expect them to appear very regularly.
  • Fox Meridian: There’s one more book in this series, then, for personal reasons, I’ll be bringing an end to this series. The Tatsu Yamada books will fill the cyberpunk/detective genre slot.
  • Princeps Venator: I do currently plan to continue this series, but not soon.
  • Misfits: One more book, when I get to it. No idea when that will be.
  • Twilight Empress: Two more books to write, but I’m stalled on the second one. Another tough one to write.
  • Death’s Handmaiden: Will continue.
  • Tatsu Yamada: Will continue.
  • Reality Hack: I have plans for a second book, but I’m having trouble getting it started. Consider this a solo until I actually get the second book out.
  • The Zanari Inheritance: Is probably not going to continue.
  • The Vanity Case: I started a second book. It may get finished sometime.
  • The Eyes of the Huntress: Probably not going to get a second book.
  • Gunwitch: Rebirth: A second book is possible, but I have no idea when. I do know what will happen in it, which is a positive sign.
  • The Girl Who Dreamed of a Different World: Plans for a second book. Not sure when.
  • Age of Atlantis: Return: Plans for a second book. Not sure when.
  • The Empress’s Mage: There’s a second book when I get there.

  1. I’m surprised about the Zanari Inheritance. I thought you’d left that open enough for a follow-up.
(Honestly, I’m amazed you have so many series running at once. Doesn’t it make it difficult to keep track?)

    • I did. I started a second book. After all this time, however, I don’t think it’s going to happen.
As for keeping track: I have notes. I have lots of notes.

      • Will miss the cat girls! Was looking forward to seeing how things turned out in that series, but the stories you are planning to continue are more than adequate! Look forward to whatever direction you end up taking things

  2. Sad to here that your not continuing the Thaumatology series. It’s my favourite but I can understand. I also being greedy would love another Aneka book. Thanks for the update. Look forward to your next book what ever it is.

  3. I’m personally sad that Ultrahumans and Fox are coming to a close. After reading and re-reading the books multiple times the characters have become old friends, in a sense, and I enjoy the little snippets of them as just people as much as them being agents of change. It’s the little snippets I think that I’ll miss the most.

I feel the same about Ceri and Lilly and Aneka and Ella and the rest, but at the same time the last books those series gave them more of a finished feel. Hopefully after you’ve written the final books for Fox and Ultrahumans they’ll have that finished feeling as well and it’ll be easier to say good bye to those characters.

  4. So many cool characters. So many lewd scenes.

I understand all too well about having too many characters, too many plots and not enough time or will to give them justice. The way my life went, I was better off writing fanficitions than trying to get anything published. It was just the way things worked out. Then I suddenly had eight pages of interesting characters set in a video game that had little backstory or plot when I started and never enough time for all of them.

    *Shrug*

Gives me something to do at least.

Do what you have to, my friend. Know that SOME of us will keep buying and reading your books no matter what series you make them in.

  5. I, too, am sad to see that Zanari and Huntress are not likely to continue, but further books for Gunwitch, Girl Who Dreamed, Atlantis and Empress’s Mage will go a long way to make up for it.
But I’ve enjoyed all your stuff since I found the first Thaumatology book some years ago, so I’ll carry on buying whatever you release!

  6. just a bit of a suggestion in one of the thaurmatology books your girl said she knew she could be as powerful as a god/dess, so she has already been to the demon realm (and became it’s ruler) she has been to the fae ream she lives in the human/mortal ream why not go to the ream of the gods next.

I lay no claims to this suggestion (if it is used) what so ever i am not a writer nor do i what to be.

    • Technically, she’s already been a goddess, if temporarily.

      • She was, is and always will be Lilly’s goddess. I THINK that is enough for her.

      • but think about it a TRUE goddess, she almost hates angels for the way they act now she finds she has them begging to serve her and worship her, she also finds she can’t do almost half the things she used to do because of the restrictions gods have placed on themselves or had placed on them by an even higher power she could get frustrated with it all anger another god or two fight them win or lose and maybe decide to make some changes in the god realm or just give up being a god and go back to her old self on earth.
        a bit long winded sorry

  7. I’ve been happy with almost everything you’ve written although Gunwitch and Thaumatology never twigged for me. I certainly enjoyed the first Tatsu story and only recently re-read the Death’s Handmaiden series so more of them are a plus. Sorry to see Aneka ending as it was your first series I read but it had a good run.

  8. Gah! Does this mean we’ll never find out what the deal is with Deltram Technologies Ltd?’

  9. Aneka. She was going through her emails and found something that looked like someone knew something about her abduction. Aggie dug further and came up with Deltram Technologies. And they existed then, but a company with that name also exists in their current time. Dum, dum, dum…

  10. So here is my take on the List ;). It’s just my reaction and opinion to the probability of a continuation of the various series/books and the reasons for them. Please don’t take them too serious:

    Thaumatology: Very Understandable.

I really like the world but you would need a new (less OP) Protagonist (I mean, come on she’s basicaly a goddess) and probably a timejump.

    Aneka: Very understandable.

I don’t see how you could make a new book here. I liked the first two Storyarcs, but the third one was pretty much just playing out concepts….. Though I could have missed something major in the last two books since I only skimmed through them.

    Ultrahumans: Again very understandable…

It is a fun series but to continue past the looming conclusion it would need to change genre…….though that could be fun 😛

    Unobtainium: No opinion.
The first one didn’t resonated with me, so I didn’t get the second.

    Fox Meridian: Understandable.

Sadly my favorite series. The original concept could have probably been continued indefinitly but somewhere around books 5 to 7 the storyline changed imho enought that it needs a conclusion.

    Princeps Venator: Nice.

I like this one because every book stands on its own (from the beginning to the end) but at the same time enriches the worldbuilding.

    Misfits: Hmm

On one hand I remember that it really needs at least one more book, on the other I just can’t remember why…..

    Twilight Empress: No real opinion

I was not a great fan of this one so I don’t care all that much either way.

    Death’s Handmaiden: Good.

I mean: The books are good and the possibilitys for the plot to advance are good too so…..good?

    Tatsu Yamada: Great

The first impression was/is a bit too much Ghost in the Shell … but I still really like it.

    Reality Hack: Sad but understandable

I like this one and think it really should have a sequel but….. I can understand why that could be difficult. Especially after such a long time.

    The Zanari Inheritance: Surprising

I’m just surprised because the story had imho a good flow and seemed more of a setup for something greater than a standalone.

    The Vanity Case: Hopefull

It’s just a good book with the premise different and at the same time similar enought to Thaumatology to really scratch the same itch for me.

The Eyes of the Huntress: Expected

The book is too full of plot and does not have enought action scenes. While the concept seems good and the overall plot is okay everything in this book felt rushed. The best example is the escape from the prison at the beginning: There is the resolve to escape and an idea formed of how to do it and when I expect to read about it, it’s resolved in the next paragraph with a vague description.

    Gunwitch: Rebirth: Hopefull

    I liked the book and while it doesn’t need a follow-up I wouldn’t say no 😉

The Girl Who Dreamed of a Different World: Divided

I really like the book but the story is finished. That isn’t a bad thing, it just means that it needs a complete new conflict for the MC.

Age of Atlantis: Return: Please, please, please!

Yeah I like the book and this one definitly needs a follow-up.

    The Empress’s Mage: hmm

There was something not quite right about the emotional impact in this book after the first part……

  11. My thoughts, as worthless as they are:

Thaumatology: like Summ said, I’d like to see the new world being brought in, but it’ll need new characters to live as a series (do series get sequels?)

Aneka: Loved the series, likewise can’t see how it could continue, other than a big time jump past the lifetime of the current characters (other than Aneka herself of course).

Fox: I enjoyed the books, though I did feel it became a bit ‘Aneka II’. Still, sad it’s ending.

Death’s Handmaiden: Loving these, glad they will continue.

  12. Really looking forward to Misfits and DH. I welcome more of Empress’s Mage — it was very enjoyable, if a bit lacking in intensity.

Thaumatology was a real favorite, but I think it’s worth closing it — I really loved the early ones, full of wonder and discovery, in terms of magic, relationship, and yes, sex. It really is not the same at the level of demi-god/empress-level power. The usual dilemma of power creep — you would need to either nerf your heroines (hate that!) or introduce ever-more-powerful menace. I’d love to have another series *like* Thaumatology, where a character grows up in power, which is why I am enjoying DH and Misfits and the Empress’s Mage.

  14. I recently reread Reality Hack and was thinking that the stage for the second book was already nicely set. E.g. you told us a lot about selkies …

  15. I don’t mean to Necro-thread, but I just finished re-reading Thaumatology and once again am sad that there will be no more books. I was wondering if you had, or ever would, consider a short or something. Ceri’s 30th birthday or something like that?

    • I wouldn’t say that’s impossible. I’m not sure when I’d get time to do something like that, but it’s possible. Maybe as part of an anthology; there are various shorts I’ve thought up for various characters in various books.
