Watching Rockets, Writing Cyberpunk

group-1

So, I have NASA TV on in the background in the hope of seeing a rocket fly (safely) and I’m writing cyberpunk. The guys in the picture above are the main characters and I’m not going to say much about them right now. The image was inspired by part of the opening credit sequence of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, 2nd Gig, though this kind of ‘identification lineup’ image is pretty common, especially in anime, though also in one famous live action movie I can think of.

Also, I’ve been reading some of the Thaumatology books recently, so here’s a little something I put together recently…

(No, I’m not going to do another Thaumatology book right now. But I am sort of feeling it a little more… Don’t get your hopes up.)

Meanwhile, good luck to SpaceX and NASA. Let’s hope it’s a go this time.

  1. I was also watching the SpaceX launch this morning, luckily I get up early anyway. Glad they made it this time although the weather looked pretty wet still. Those spacesuits they wear certainly look the part for a Sci-fi series!

    • The suits are great. Having them custom made for each astronaut may not be a scalable solution, however.

      • the Suits are not custom made but available in three sizes. Its the carbonfiber seag liners that are custom made to fit each individual Astronaut perfectly in order to avoid pressure points.

  2. And it went up what a glorius sight to see the falcon9 riding up hill on its tail of Flames. Gods speed to the astronauts.

On an other note i my self am mor of a steam punk guy than into cyber punk but i guess it id more appropriate in this times.

    • I definitely think we’re heading for more of a cyberpunk dystopia than a steampunk one. Steampunk would be prettier. And have more corsets.

The launch was spectacular, but I have to admit that the jingoism got to me a bit after they hit orbit. America, America, America. I get it, I really do, but that’s not what this meant to me. To me, this mission represents the point where I have an admittedly slim chance of seeing the Earth from orbit before I go. Maybe even from further out. And I might get to see men (and women) on Mars in my lifetime. That’s what it meant to me.

      • Well i stopt watching after they deployed so i didnt see al the RawRaw Speeches.
JES that is what spaceX and Nasa Represent for me in this mission the advances that wil make Humans on mars posibel o and it was schortly after my Birthday so it made me kind of happy

      • Happy belated birthday.

      • Thank you
