  1. Already up on Amazing UK

  2. Damn you, auto correct.

  3. Love the cover! And love the fact you’ve got a new book out already.
Just in time to brighten an otherwise rather dreary weekend.
I’ll be posting my review on goodreads as soon as I’m finished reading.

  4. Well, that was something. A very enjoyable and entertaining something. Do you have any idea if you’ll take this series beyond the book you’re working on now?

    • I have ideas for at least a third book. Coming up with ideas for this series isn’t actually very hard, a little like Fox. I think there’ll be at least three of them. Just at the moment, I think there’ll be more than that.

      • Excellent. The characters and world were really engaging to me, so it’s great to hear that you have ideas. Thanks! 🙂

  5. I liked it a lot. I’m pretty tired of the “Wizard School” genre, but this was different enough to be entertaining. Looking forward to the next book!

  6. A lot of deja-vus at the beginning, but then we got a completely new and novel plot. Great book.

Note: “Beherbergen” = “to accommodate” (infinitive of a verb) “accommodation” would be “Herberge”…

    • I think I’ll chalk that one up to someone trying to explain a point in their second language to someone who doesn’t know it at all.
I’d have liked to have come up with a slightly different beginning. In fact, what you read is the second beginning I wrote. I couldn’t come up with a way to start it off which didn’t sound like something else. I’m just glad it didn’t come out reading like Harry Potter.

      • Here’s one for you, actually.
One of the terrorists says ‘Was war das?’ I originally wrote it was ‘Whas war das?’ Thinking English and writing German. Thankfully, my proofreader noticed it.

      • I know about the problems English speaking people (Americans even more) have to distinguish between loan words from German and real German words. If you are unsure in the future don’t hesitate to drop me a mail.

      • Come book 3 or 4, I’m probably going to take you up on that.

  7. Disappointed I can only give it 5 stars on amazon, it deserves more. Hope this is the start of a long series

    • Glad you like it. Second book in April. I’d actually prefer not to do a third straight after because I know that wears me out, but right at the moment, I don’t have anything else in my head. See how it is in a couple of weeks.

      • If I load my Kindle up with Ceri, Aneke, Fox, and Cygnus and repeatedly hit you over the head with it, will that put ideas for at least one of them in your head? Isnt that how it works? Right? No? Well crap.

      • Sorry, no.
I have solid ideas for the next Fox book and a general idea of the next Ultrahumans book. The Fox one needs a bit more work before I can write it, but it’ll happen sooner than later: my mother likes my Fox books and she’s a better prod to get me writing than being beaten with a Kindle. 🙂

  8. Just finished it and enjoyed it a great deal. I saw a lot of Aneka in Nava with enough differences to make her her own character. Hoping we’ll get a closer look at the magic powered starships in the next book.

  9. So I just finished I and while I liked the story in general did anyone notice a shocking similarity to ‘The Irregular at Magic High School’? Some of the plot characterizations seem very similar.

    • That was because ‘Irregular’ was the reason I wrote it. It was one of the inspirations, though I’ve been trying to write this story for a couple of decades in various forms.
I like to think I differentiated more in the later books.
