This is (probably) going to be the cover image for Death’s Handmaiden. Click on the image to see the process images which were used to create this.
I don’t use much postwork in my images (because I suck at it), but I had this idea of creating a ‘dark reflection’ sort of image for this cover and that means doing some compositing. Basically, two similar images with the foreground one having the mirror replaced by a mask colour. Most of the better image editors can create layered images with a mask to allow parts of one layer to show through the one above. I use GIMP.
What we end up with is the light version of Nava seeing the darker side of herself in a mirror. I may redo this with a darker background on the image in the mirror. I’ll probably try it and see how it looks. Lighter images work better when they’re turned into greyscale or shrunk to a thumbnail, so maybe the lighter background is better.
Anyway, have a good New Year and I hope 2020 starts out well for you. (Or, for some of you, please read that sentence in the past tense.)

Looking at the leg area, a small bit of the dark model made it onto the foreground image.
Good overall effect.
If you mean the boots, then no. They’re wearing the same boots because those are Nava’s kickass boots that she uses in a lot of outfits. You’ll see them in a few images when I do the art dump for this book. If you look at the thigh area, you’ll notice that the foreground is in fishnet-like leggings vs the solid fabric of the mirrored image.
If that’s not what you mean, could you be more specific and I’ll see if I can work out what’s happened.
I can’t see anything wrong either.
You should probably grow the selection about 5 pixels and then feather it by 5 pixels to reduce the blue banding around the replaced areas, though.

Iron Princess, Twilight Empress book 2. When are you going to finish the story?????
That got stuck. I ran into a problem with it and I haven’t resolved it yet. I don’t have an ETA for it currently. I know. I suck.
Speaking of problems, what’s going on with the sequel to Unobtainium 1?
Really stuck.
Every so often, things like that float into my head and I try to come up with a way around whatever caused the issue. That particular one has got to the point where I think I need to retool from scratch.
I’d really like to get Twilight Empress and Misfits concluded this year. They had definite end points I can aim for. Twilight Empress may take a little longer given it’s supposed to be a trilogy. I need to sit down and review all of them and plan out what needs doing. Then I need to get my head together to do them.
