Emergence Cover Emerges

I am aiming to have Emergence in the (virtual) shops by tomorrow noon. Given my fractured sleeping habits of late this is no mean feat and it might happen sooner.

One of the things which has been keeping me up at night is the cover. Okay, that’s a lie, what’s been keeping me up at night is the airless atmosphere, but the cover has taken a while to produce. Not saying it’s my best ever, but it’s probably my most ambitious. This thing has five layers in it! For a professional artist that’s chicken feed, but I get nervous when I have more than one layer.

Anyway, I hope you like it, and that it gives some hints/confuses you regarding the book.

Weekly Kawaii

Okay… ‘Weekly’ is probably a total lie, but it’s the thought that counts. It’s Monday, and we all deserve a little cute on a Monday. Kit has actually been declared to be ‘paru-kawaii,’ but you’re going to have to wait for Emergence to come out to find out what the Hell I’m talking about.

Anyway… Kit picture:

An Aside: Kit With a Bump

Over on Facebook, someone suggested that my ultra-secret ending for Emergence might be that I was going to have Kit get pregnant. (People on FB don’t read comments about not speculating, it seems, but they have gone for jokes and it’s FB.)

I said “Well, there goes the plot for the next book.” Ha ha.

Then I thought, “What would that look like? Gotta do it.”

So, pregnant Kit. About 6 months if AIs have a 9 month gestation. The father is Vali, of course. I’ve never really subscribed to the whole “pregnancy makes a woman beautiful” thing, but apparently if you’re just a virtual image, you still look too damn cute.

And it’s a shame it isn’t April 1st.

Valentines’ Day

The title isn’t a typo.

I’m not especially big on Valentine’s Day. I’m single, so all that stuff that gets rammed down my throat this time of year appears to be just some form of suggestion that I’m abnormal. I probably am, but not because I’m single.

However, today is February 14th so… Well, those of you who have read Hunter’s Kiss will get the reference. Here’s a render of Pat from that book in a ludicrous outfit with hearts on it.

Above is the cover for my new novel, Hunter’s Kiss, which is going to be out real soon now ™. I’m working on the final edits now.

This is a new world, with vampires, but don’t expect teenage angst and forbidden romance, or particularly normal vampires: this is me after all. Hunter’s Kiss is little more police procedural than YA fantasy as young detective Mike Williams finds himself part of the NYPD’s special unit charged with enforcing vampire law in New York, and making sure the general populace remains blissfully unaware that vampires really exist. Oh, and his partner is one of the oldest vampires still un-alive.
