I recently finished the first draft of the next Death’s Handmaiden novel (Loyalty, I think). On Wednesday, actually. I’ve ben working on plotting out that succubus thing I mentioned since then, but I decided to read through Loyalty as it stands to see whether there are any major problems or bits I should add. There are some scheduling issues that will mean the book won’t be out before June anyway…
Upshot of this is that I’m putting a hold on the succubus thing because I just haven’t enough story to make it viable, and I’m going to delay Loyalty a bit further because, well, I want to write more Nava & Co. So, you’ll probably looking at late July for the next book, but it’ll be a bit longer when it appears. Maybe a lot longer and a dollar or so more expensive, but I’m going to see how long the added story actually works out before deciding on that.
To hold you over, a couple of graphics you won’t have seen. (The second is NSFW.)

Yay! Wonderful, I certainly don’t mind waiting a little longer for more Nava & Co.
As a callback, I couldn’t remember why I decided i didn’t like the Ultrahumans series, so since I had the first 2, I went back and read them again……and now I’ve read all of them. I honestly have no idea what went wrong the first time.
Can’t wait to see what you’ve gotten Nava & Co into this time.

Personally, I am glad to hear you are making book 6 longer. I was honestly rather disappointed by book 5, not that it was badly written but I got to the end and my main thought was “wait, is this it?!”.
The books tend to end up as long as they need to be to tell whatever story I want to tell. Admittedly, sometimes I expect them to work out longer than they end up being. Then again, they sometimes end up longer than I expected. I am not one of those authors who knows exactly how everything is going to work out when I start.
Things take as long as they take, so no worries. Also no worries on the price. I know Iβm in the minority but considering how much I re-read your books and how much I enjoyment I get from them Iβd pay $9.99 US for them without complaint.
Thanks, but there’s no way I’d charge that sort of price for them. I think the light novels I read are a bit much and they average $6-7 each.
Good to hear we’re getting another Nava story soon. Sorry to hear about the succubus story though, perhaps a bit more inspiration will come along later so the novel can be fully formed. RE pricing: I don’t mind if there’s a price bump for your stories, got to pay the bills after all. And yes, light novels (along with manga) have some rather steep price points at times, although some of it can be justified due to the cost of translation.
Anyway, hope this finds you well, and ready to face the world (or hide under the covers instead).
Actually, getting out of bed in the mornings has been rather hard lately… π
Always excited to get a new Death’s Handmaiden notification and book. To be honest, I’m not sure if I like the DH series better than the Aneka Jansen series or not – it is a toss-up for me. And I seriously like the Tatsu Yamada series as well. I own and have read all of your stuff except for the Ultra Humans; for whatever reason I just can’t make myself read this – don’t know why.
At any rate right now DH and Tatsu are at the top of the list for me – hope you plan on another Tatsu book – the relationship between Tatsu and Sachicko are top end – maybe you get Mika in with them for a quickie without her brother knowing! Hahahaha!
But her brother would always know…
Hhhmmmm. Maybe he’s like Naomi and a video of the three of them would suffice!
I know imouto stuff has got kind of common in romance anime these days, but no, he doesn’t have THAT kind of sister complex. π
Yeah – thought about that after I posted; not only that he turns his back when Tatsu is in a statue of undress. I guess the whack jobs here across the pond are getting to me!
Any chance of a third misfits book.
At some point.
