As I indicated a short while ago, I’m endeavoring to get all the Thaumatology books updated across Amazon and Smashwords. I had them worked over by my proofreader a long time ago but kept them back due to a need to get something else done for the Smashwords release. I’ve decided to just update the texts so everyone can have nice, clean, error-free prose, even if some catalogues won’t currently list some of the titles (long story).
I’m doing three a day (because I want to get some writing done as well) and the first three are now up. That’s:
- Thaumatology 101
- Demon’s Moon
- Legacy (plus the Black Moonlight short story)
Now then, Legacy was updated on Amazon a short while back, but I neglected to add in Black Moonlight at the time. That has now been fixed (or it will be when Amazon have got their end of things together). If you’re interested, you may wish to look for an update to that book on Amazon.
I’ll be updating this list through the week as I upload more updates.
The updated Legacy text is now up on Amazon too.
Current List (18th October):
- Thaumatology 101
- Demon’s Moon
- Legacy
- Dragon’s Blood
- Disturbia
- Hammer of Witches
- Eagle’s Shadow
- Ancient
- Dragonfall
- The Other Side of Hell
- For Whom the Wedding Bells Toll
- Vengeance
I’ll take care of the anthologies at some later date, so that’s all for now.
I remember several years ago you posting some childhood letters to Santa by Ceri and Lily that never made it into anything, any chance of maybe adding those and any other similar stuff in somewhere?
Well, I still have them. I recall having all sorts of plans for that idea and I ended up running out of ideas, which is likely why they never got published properly. I could possibly drop them into the first anthology if I ever get to updating those. I’ve put a note where I’ll see it when that happens (which won’t be quite as soon because building the release files for those books is a PAIN).
Hi,
I bought the books on kobo.com are the books there updated as well?
Theoretically, yes. Practically, I don’t get informed of transfers to what Smashwords calls ‘channels,’ so I’m really not sure. It will certainly take a while for any updates to happen because that’s how Smashwords does it. The books transfer on a schedule, so keep a lookout is, unfortunately, the best I can offer.
Okay,
thank you.
Is there some distinctive mark we can use to recognize the updated version? I just re-downloaded Vengeance from Smashwords, but I can’t tell if I got the updated version or the version I bought back in 2014.
If you click on the link for the download type you want, it should show you a list of the different versions available. You want the 2020 version, which should be at the top.
If you don’t get a list (I know it works for kindle, but not everything), then I’d imagine you can only download the latest version.
Oh, addendum: The list thing might be an author-only deal. In which case, you can only download the latest version if you download it now. And I just checked, and Vengeance’s latest version is the 2020 one.
That’s actually the one that changed least, IIRC. If you’d downloaded one of the others, you’d really notice the lack of typos and grammar errors. π
I don’t see a list, so I’ll just go with “it’s the updated version.” Thanks!
I admit that I don’t buy much from Smashwords. They rarely have anything I want to read. So, I guess the list is just for the author.
I’m a bit late to the party, but many thanks for the update!
Now I can start my reread of the series in earnest.

Ps. Personally I prefer Smashwords over may of its competitors, granted the selection is a bit anemic, but they actually let you download the file without sticking it in a “Sealed Box” like the Kindle model. I really hate the fact that after having already payed for a book, a platform (Kindle for example) can arbitrarily decide to alter or remove items I have bought. Oh and I’m just not buying a separate reader because Amazon decided to be exclusionary.
So thanks for giving us the Smashword option. It is much appreciate!
Agreed. Once I’ve bought the book, I don’t want Amazon to have any further involvement.
